Welcome to Pupuseria El Buen Gusto Restaurant
Pupuseria El Buen Gusto is a family style restaurant. We offer a plentiful menu of authentic
El Salvadoran and Central American food, including our fresh made pupusas, a traditional staple
of El Salvador.
What's a Pupusa? A pupusa is a thick, handmade corn tortilla stuffed with any number of tasty
fillings, such as beans, cheese, pork, chicken, shrimp or loroco, a flower native to El Salvador.
The stuffed pupusa is placed on a hot griddle until the crust turns golden. We serve our pupusas
with a side of curtido, a tangy mix of vegetables spiced with red chilis and vinegar.
It is said that Pupusas originated with the Pipil tribes living in the area now known as El Salvador
more that 3,000 years ago. Cooking implements used to prepare pususas have been found in several archeological sites, including Joya de Cerén, the site of a native village which was buried by ash as
a result of a volcanic explosion more than 2,000 years ago.
Whether you want to enjoy the delicious taste of our pupusas, or want to try something new from
our Guatamalan, Mexican or Honduran selections, please stop by. We will be happy to serve you.
And remember to save room for dessert!
